Tom Latchford, CEO of Raising IT, last night delivered the opening speech of the first
Knowledge Peers Charity Leaders' Exchange
event of 2011, titled
Developing your Fundraising as Products
. Drawing on examples from both the private and nonprofit sectors, Tom explored the relationships between charities' products and promise. The intelligent use of data and technology, he argued, is the key factor in empowering charity donors as the best advocates for a charity's products. This line was echoed by panelist Peter Dalton, Director of Fundraising at Addenbrooke's. Also on the panel were experts from Stonewall, WWF-UK, Build Africa and Beatbullying. Oliver Kemp, Director of Fundraising from Build Africa, explained how his charity's income rose from £0 to £283,000 since the launch of a new website two years ago.
